The Need to Sing

The Book for shy singers to quieten their inner critic, master vocal technique, and voice their truth

The Need to Sing is not another dry vocal technique manual. It’s a step-by-step roadmap that takes you from silencing yourself to actually using your voice, built on the same method that has taken hundreds of my students from barely audible to the stage.

The confidence piece comes first.

You’ll learn why your inner critic is so loud, where it came from, and exactly how to stop it from sabotaging every note you sing. I call this the Joy-First Flip: instead of grinding through technique until you’ve “earned” the right to enjoy singing, you start with joy and let the technique follow.

Then we build the voice.

You’ll meet your instrument (it’s probably not doing what you think it’s doing), learn to identify the specific things blocking your sound, and replace them with simple tricks that make singing feel easier. We’ll tackle the  things singers crave: high notes, singing in tune, breath support, range.

Then we take it to the stage.

Whether that’s an open mic, a family gathering, or just singing in your living room without cringing. You’ll get a toolkit for handling nerves, a system for building confidence gradually, and a clear path from practice room to performance. No matter how bad the nerves are now!

— Ellen, who was terrified of anyone hearing her voice

“My biggest fear was that my voice had a cap. That regardless of how much effort I put in, it wouldn’t progress. That perception has been lifted.”

— Silvia, corporate leader

“Cause why not? You only live once, and only for so long.”
